A New Chapter for Not So Grey Travellers

After a little quiet period over here on the blog, we’re finally back - and this time, we’re bringing video with us.
Over the past few years, Kevin and I have travelled through Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Lombok and many lesser-known corners of Bali, collecting thousands of photos, video clips and unforgettable moments along the way.
Some of you may remember our earlier blog posts sharing stories from those travels — from winding roads through Vietnam to slow boats in Laos and dusty adventures across Cambodia. Since then, the journey has continued, along with our growing love for storytelling through film and video.
Recently retired and now embracing a more permanent style of slow travel, we’ve decided it’s finally time to start sharing these experiences in a new way through our YouTube channel, Not So Grey Travellers.
Our very first vlog takes you to Amed in Eastern Bali — a quieter, slower side of the island where fishing villages sit beside black sand beaches, volcanoes rise in the distance and life still moves at a gentler pace.
For us, Amed felt deeply nostalgic. More than 40 years after first visiting Bali on our honeymoon, it reminded us of the Bali we originally fell in love with — before the traffic, beach clubs and fast pace of tourism.

This first video is less about ticking off tourist attractions and more about sharing the feeling of a place. The roadside warungs, the salt farms, the local conversations, the ocean, the small everyday moments and the beauty of simply slowing down.
As “Glampackers,” we sit somewhere between backpackers and comfort travellers — still chasing adventure, motorbike rides and hidden places, but these days appreciating a comfortable room, a private bathroom and a good coffee at the end of the day too.
Moving forward, we’ll continue sharing both written stories here on the blog and cinematic travel vlogs over on YouTube. We still have so many adventures to revisit and share with you — from Sri Lanka by tuk tuk, remote Indonesia, underwater moments from Donna learning to scuba dive, and countless stories from the road across Southeast Asia.
We’re excited to bring you along for this next chapter.
You can watch our very first vlog from Amed below, and we’d truly love your support as we begin this new creative journey.
Welcome back to Not So Grey Travellers.
