Today was a pretty tough day as we knew it would be but it was a must do. Preparing ourselves we went to The War Remnants Museum which depicts quite graphicly America's involvement in the Vietnam War.
The museum was very slanted from the Vietnamese point of view but photos don't lie! These images show quite clearly the war crimes that American solders committed, the affects of chemical warfare during and generations after the war. It's stomach turning. There were images that I just could not look at. Naturally it is not a place to take photos. I did take two though. The first is self explained from it's text.
This second image is of a statue which is the last thing you see as you exit the last room
And unfortunately war crimes still exist in today's world.
We have all seen this famous image below of Napalm Girl, Phan Thi Kim Phuc who is quoted as saying ''I want to forgive the people who caused my suffering. I did. I got burned by napalm, and I became a victim of war. In war time, nowhere is safe.'
The only winners in war are the arm's dealers.
On a more happier note, we completed the day treating ourselves to a cocktail at the Rooftop Bar in the infamous Rex Hotel followed by an amazing meal at a highly recommended restaurant.
How stunning is the city's buildings all lit up at night.
Tomorrow we say goodbye to HCMC and hello to Da Nang.
xoxo
